The exhibition is open from 24 to 29 October 2026, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The exhibition brings together works by students of Interior Architecture and lecturers from the Department of Interior Architecture and Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The works occupy a state of transition: between an idea and its realization. Between what is only beginning to take shape and what has already acquired form. It is a state in which the process remains more important than its completion. The “not yet” and “already” in the exhibition title do not establish clear-cut boundaries. Instead, they open up an in-between space: for forms in the process of taking shape, for ideas that are only beginning to acquire materiality, and for works that are beginning to function within time. Interior architecture, functional and sculptural forms become carriers of traces: of decisions, use, and memory. The material intertwines with the ephemeral — with the rhythm of everyday life, the presence of the body, and the experience of duration.
Longevity can be understood in a similar way. Today, it does not appear as a promise of permanence, but rather as a state of constant transformation. The contemporary body, suspended between matter and symbol, becomes a site of tension between the fragility of existence and the desire to transcend its own boundaries. The works by the artists and designers presented in the exhibition attempt to capture this paradox. Longevity is not understood here as eternal life, but as a trace – a form of memory inscribed in an object, a gesture, a material, and an image. It is a story about a human being who, despite their finiteness, continuously designs themselves beyond the boundaries of time.
Curators:
Grzegorz Maślewski, PhD, DSc, Professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University. In 1995, he received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Sixteen years later, he obtained his habilitation at the same university. Since then, he has been a member of its academic and teaching staff. He serves as Head of the Discipline of Fine Arts and Art Conservation. His practice focuses on sculpture and medallic art. Her artistic practice explores the environment — both the built environment and nature — and its influence on people. She observes it closely, focusing on light, colour, structures, and textures. She analyses and explores aesthetic relationships. She creates installations and objects at the intersection of textile art and sculpture. She also draws inspiration for her design work from photography.
